The Summer ’18 Salesforce release has moved into your production over the past few weeks and it is giving us more reason to love Lightning with UI improvements and finally the report builder is now generally available.
For the Summer ’18 Release, the Preview instances were upgraded to Summer ’18 on 4-5 May ’18 and the Non-Preview Instances will be upgraded to Summer ’18 on 8-9 June’18.
Here are top 7 updates to follow in 2018.
Url format change –
Salesforce Summer ’18 release has introduced a new url format used by Lightning Experience standard apps, console apps, and the Salesforce mobile app.
Speeding up search –
This release is allowing users to search by specific objects, from the global search bar.
Robust Privacy –
This new feature a user’s personal information unusable. The new privacy regulations, the ability to request your personal information is removed from a system. Salesforce has now included a new system method ‘obfuscateUser()’, which will scramble user information. This feature would require planning and testing, as Salesforce warns that it cannot be reversed.
Data privacy record to be retained when merging records –
This is an easier process to merge leads and contacts that have existing data privacy records. And, if you prefer to always keep the most recent customized data privacy record, you can select that preference in Setup.
The Individual Object Supports Standard Object Features –
Creating data security records based on the Individual object helps you store certain data privacy preferences for your customers. The individual now supports all standard object features.
Organize Records with Topics –
Topics provide a way to organize records through themes. After the Summer ’18 release you can use topics on records in Lightning Experience by adding the Topics component to the record pages. Topics are by design enabled for all available standard objects. If you used topics on records in Salesforce Classic, after you add the topics component, your users see previously added topics on the same records in Lightning Experience.
Enabled Inline Edits While Using Filter Logic –
Inline editing and filtering logic come together to make your list views more powerful. No setup needed. In Lightning Experience, you can start making inline edits to your list views that use filter logic right away.
