Job Description Role Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Semi-Senior Atlassian Engineer to manage, configure, and optimize our Atlassian Cloud ecosystem (Jira Software, Confluence, and Jira Service Management) at a system level. In this role, you will design complex workflows, implement automations, manage system schemes, and integrate third-party apps to ensure our tools support business objectives cleanly and efficiently. As part of our forward-looking strategy, you will also leverage modern Atlassian capabilities, including AI-driven solutions with Atlassian Rovo and custom cloud development using Atlassian Forge. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to maintain environment stability, promote best practices, and deliver reliable end-user support.

Key Responsibilities System Administration & Governance

Administer Atlassian core products (Jira Software, Confluence, Jira Service Management) at the system level, maintaining security, performance, and scalability.

Manage user lifecycles, groups, projects, global permissions, and object-level access controls.

Establish and promote organization-wide best practices for data structure, governance, and tool usage across all business units.

Troubleshoot system access, performance, and integration issues, engaging Atlassian and third-party app vendor support when necessary.

Workflow Engineering & Customization

Design, build, and maintain complex custom workflows, screen schemes, field configurations, permission schemes, and notification schemes.

Implement workflow logic including conditions, validators, post-functions, and custom fields tailored to team requirements.

Create and manage advanced JQL queries, saved filters, automated dashboards, and operational reports.

Automation, Next-Gen Integrations & Environment Deployment

Develop, test, and maintain custom scripts using apps such as Adaptavist ScriptRunner or native Jira Automation.

Explore and implement AI-driven solutions using Atlassian Rovo (Search, Chat, and custom Agents) to improve enterprise knowledge discovery and team productivity.

Evaluate, test, and implement Marketplace apps and add-ons, analyzing potential upstream and downstream architectural impacts prior to rollout.

Safely design, test, and deploy configuration changes across development, testing, and production Jira environments using structured change control processes.

Stakeholder Management & Documentation

Partner with Project Managers, Software Engineers, Practice Teams, and Leadership to align tool configurations with business processes.

Author and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, architectural decision records, and end-user guide materials.

Provide ongoing administrative support and maintenance with a service-oriented mindset focused on continuous system enhancement.

Required Qualifications Experience: 3+ years of direct experience administering Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management at an enterprise or system level.

Technical Expertise:

Advanced understanding of Jira schemes, issue types, field configurations, and screen design.

Strong mastery of JQL (Jira Query Language) for advanced reporting and dashboard creation.

Proven experience writing scripts or automations using ScriptRunner (Groovy/Java) or equivalent Jira automation tools.

Atlassian Rovo: Familiarity and practical experience leveraging Rovo's AI capabilities for search, data discovery, and implementing AI agents.

Demonstrated experience deploying changes through structured multi-environment setups (Dev Test Prod).

System Design & Architecture: Understanding of system architecture, API integrations (REST APIs), and how Atlassian tools interface with upstream/downstream systems.

Soft Skills:

Strong customer service orientation with exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

Analytical problem-solving ability with high attention to detail.

Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) certification (e.g., ACP-100, ACP-120, or ACP-400).

Hands-on experience with Jira Service Management ITIL framework processes (Incident, Service Request, Problem, and Change Management).

Experience integrating Atlassian tools with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Bitbucket, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) or identity providers (e.g., Okta, Azure AD)

Basic knowledge of Atlassian Forge to assist in evaluating, scoping, or developing secure, custom cloud apps and integrations.
