Job Description :
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a Tech Manager with a Mobile Architect profile to own the technical direction of cross-platform mobile products and to lead the engineers who build them.
This is a dual role by design. On the architecture side you will define mobile architecture, coding standards, release pipelines and long-term maintainability across iOS, Android and Flutter. On the management side you will lead one or more squads, run 1:1s and performance cycles, hire, and grow engineers.
You will work directly with Product and Design to refine requirements, estimate effort and surface cross-team dependencies, and you will be the technical voice the client trusts on mobile decisions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Define and own mobile architecture across platforms — architectural patterns, modularisation, state management, design-system adoption and long-term maintainability.
Author and drive the mobile technical roadmap, including refactoring cycles and technical-debt reduction, and make the business case for them.
Set and enforce engineering standards: merge-request workflows, peer review, test strategy and unit-test coverage, static analysis.
Own CI/CD pipelines, build automation, release management and store submission for QA, client validation and production.
Lead one or more cross-functional squads (mobile, and where applicable front-end), coordinating task delivery and providing day-to-day technical guidance.
Conduct code reviews and act as the technical quality gate before release.
Facilitate collaboration across App, BFF, Web, Content, Design and Product teams; track sprint progress and actively manage cross-team dependencies.
Partner with Product and Design to refine requirements, estimate effort and challenge scope where technically unsound.
Manage, mentor and develop engineers: 1:1s, coaching, career guidance, OKRs and performance reviews.
Lead hiring and onboarding — job profile definition, technical interviewing, and ramp-up of new engineers.
Raise documentation and knowledge-sharing standards; run tech talks and internal R&D initiatives.
Represent mobile engineering in client-facing technical discussions and delivery governance.
MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS
10+ years in mobile engineering, with at least 4 years in a technical leadership or engineering management capacity.
Deep hands-on experience in native mobile development: Swift and Objective-C (iOS) and/or Kotlin and Java (Android), at advanced level.
Strong cross-platform experience with Flutter and Dart, including when to choose cross-platform over native and how to defend that decision.
Demonstrated ownership of mobile architecture on at least one enterprise-scale product — you set the architecture, not just worked within it.
Proven line-management experience: direct reports, 1:1s, performance reviews, coaching and career development.
Hands-on CI/CD experience for mobile (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Bitrise, Jenkins or equivalent) including automated build and release pipelines.
Strong Agile / Scrum delivery experience leading squads of 5–12 engineers.
Experience with Firebase (or equivalent) for analytics, crash reporting, remote config and distribution.
Experience hiring and onboarding mobile engineers, from job profile to ramp-up.
Client-facing credibility: able to run a technical conversation with product owners and client stakeholders without a delivery manager in the room.
Professional working proficiency in English.
NICE TO HAVE
Additional platform experience: tvOS, wearables, or high-concurrency VOD / live-streaming products.
Front-end experience (JavaScript, Vue or React) to lead blended mobile and web squads.
Strong UX and usability instincts — user testing and A/B testing experience to inform feature prioritisation.
Experience with AI-assisted engineering tooling, or having shipped an AI-enabled internal tool or product feature.
Experience with design-system definition and rollout across platforms.
Additional languages (Spanish, and others relevant to the account).
Experience managing blended in-house, outsourced and Full Timeor teams.
